Happy Thanksgiving! There is so much to be grateful for this year, not least of all the amazing community that has been by my side as I navigate the release of Fault Lines.

When people find out I’m a writer, most ask what I write about. I start with the short answer - literary fiction, character-based storytelling. If they want more, I tell them I write mostly about women. Complicated, flawed, real women. They make mistakes, they have doubts, and they don’t always want to do the right thing.

But truthfully, that doesn’t land with every reader.

Someone recently told me about an environment where she felt too different, and wasn’t sure if she should take up space. It hurt my heart to hear this, and I immediately became her defender. Of course you can take up space, and should! But later that day I considered my response. Did I really believe it? Could I live by my own words?
